Closing the Knowledge Gap with Cognitive Design

Tuesday, March 15
3:30PM - 4:30PM

JW Marriott
Salon FGH
110 E 2nd St

Web/app designers can lose sight of a knowledge gap between themselves and users. Unintentionally ineffective products may cost people with mild to severe learning or cognitive disabilities (ADD, age-related, stroke) access to vital information. Web developer John Kirkwood will share how innovative use of enterprise tech tools helped him overcome severe brain injury. He and tech/innovation leader Josh Phipps will define cognitive disabilities and frame cognitive accessibility as an opportunity to reach the broadest possible audience. Discussion of best practices, evolving W3C standards, and compelling implementation of Cognitive Design principles in designing for a neuro-diverse audience.
