Let's Make Open Data Awesome Meet Up
Monday, March 14
9:30AM - 10:30AM
110 E 2nd St
Open data is awesome! It is integral in ensuring the validity, understanding, and reproducibility of research. Funding agencies like the National Science Foundation require a data management plan for all funded research. Publishers like PLOS (Public Library of Science) are requiring research data be opened as a prerequisite to publication. While it may satisfy the aforementioned requirements, simply uploading data to an online repository does not inherently provide value to future research. Data must be discoverable and understandable. This meet up will be an exchange of ideas to help ensure that open data is truly open and truly valuable to the scientific community.

Hi, I'm Matt! I'm a software developer living in Austin. I mostly develop web applications for scientists to help them be more productive in their science. Whether it's data management, point-and-click access to computational resources, or the more mundane, I help to make sure scientists and researchers can focus more time and effort on their science, and not the technology that has become inextricable from large-scale, computationally- or data-intensive science.Hide the rest
