Let's Make Open Data Awesome Meet Up
Open data is awesome! It is integral in ensuring the validity, understanding, and reproducibility of research. Funding agencies like the National Science Foundation require a data management plan for all funded research. Publishers like PLOS (Public Library of Science) are requiring research data be opened as a prerequisite to publication. While it may satisfy the aforementioned requirements, simply uploading data to an online repository does not inherently provide value to future research. Data must be discoverable and understandable. This meet up will be an exchange of ideas to help ensure that open data is truly open and truly valuable to the scientific community.
