Wardy Forty: Where Dylan Met Woody
Stumbling upon patient photographs of Woody Guthrie in the darkroom of an abandoned hospital was just the beginning of a ten year journey. Photographer Phil Buehler and Woody’s granddaughter Anna will share this untold and inspiring story of Woody's life at Greystone Park State Hospital where he was a patient suffering from Huntington’s Disease.
It is here where a then-unknown 19-year-old Dylan first met his idol and a torch was passed. Images of the decaying hospital are juxtaposed with Woody’s letters from the hospital, family snapshots, home movies and recollections of his friends, family and doctors, as Phil and Anna show why Woody would sign his letters, “I ain’t dead quite yet.”
