Radio is evolving to respond to the dynamic and fragmented multi-media landscape impacting the music business. This panel will discuss the combined power of radio and new platforms as tools used to launch and sustain artists, reach passionate fans and sell music. Discover the ingredients for success, from capitalizing on social followers, to creating original video content, to connecting with audiences in memorable live performances. This panel will look at the strategies and innovations being created by radio networks, labels, artist management, and promoters, as they come together to build their collective businesses.

Billy Mann is a Grammy-nominated multi-platinum hit songwriter, producer, artist, executive and entrepreneur. Mann’s discography includes P!nk, Cher, Sting, John Legend, Take That, Kelly Rowland, Hall & Oates, Martina McBride, Celine Dion, among others, and has written numerous Top 10 hits around the globe with sales of over 125 million albums.
Beginning as an A&M artist in 1994, Mann’s ambition helped him pivot towards writing, producing and entrepreneurialism. In 2001, he founded Stealth Entertainment, a talent development company with special focus on brand partnerships. EMI acquired Stealth in 2007 and Mann was appointed to EMI’s Board and thereafter President of International/Global Artist Management, overseeing EMI's rosters in over 30 countries. In late 2010, Mann was appointed President of Creative-BMG North America before becoming CEO of Green & Bloom/Topline the following year, a songwriter-led publisher with over 3,000 copyrights and chart-topping successes around the globe from David Guetta to Eric Clapton. In 2012, Mann founded Manncom Creative, a boutique management company that takes a 21st Century approach to the entertainment industry and represents independent-minded creatives like Alex Aiono, Jacob Whitesides, Oh Honey and others.
Mann is a national board member of Autism Speaks serving on the Advocacy, Strategic and Digital Committees, co-founder of the Rema Hort Mann Foundation and was an elected Governor of Songwriters in New York for the National Academy of Arts & Sciences (Grammys). In 2007, Mann helped draft the Autism Policy for the Obama/Biden Presidential campaign and later had the honor of watching his oldest son, Jasper, receive the first pen in the Oval Office from President Obama after he signed H.R. 2005, the Combatting Autism Reauthorization Act in 2011. Cathy Applefeld Olson is an editor and writer who has focused on the music and television industries for more than 20 years. She’s a longtime contributor to Billboard, covering news, trends, artist and exec profiles, and events including the Songwriters Hall of Fame and Kennedy Center Honors. Cathy is also an editor at Cynopsis Media, where her focus on the television trade has expanded to encompass the digital realm, with a particular eye to youth culture. She also covers the cable TV industry as the managing editor of Cablefax: The Magazine, and contributes to numerous other publications.
Cathy holds a BS in journalism from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism. She’s the wife of an equally music-obsessed husband and mom of two fabulous teenage daughters. Easterlin, who served as GM of both labels until his promotion to President in January 2016, oversees all areas of FBR and Roadrunner activities, expanding on the success of their existing artist rosters while continuing to sign and nurture new talent. Phil Guerini is Vice President, Music Strategy, Disney Channels Worldwide and General Manager, Radio Disney Networks. He oversees the music strategy of the DCWW networks, including Disney Channel, Disney XD, Disney Junior and all aspects of Radio Disney programming, its strategic direction, and the daily management for Radio Disney, Radio Disney Junior, and Radio Disney Country.
Prior to joining Radio Disney in 2008, Guerini was Executive Director, Broadcast and Strategic Marketing, Walt Disney Records, where he worked on several chart-topping releases, including soundtracks for “High School Musical,” “Hannah Montana” and “Camp Rock.”
In 2004, Guerini joined Walt Disney Records as Director, Synergy and Promotions, and was promoted to Executive Director, Broadcast and Strategic Marketing in 2006. He joined The Walt Disney Company in July 1992 as Operations Host/Special Projects Manager at Walt Disney World Resort – Disney-MGM Studios, and in May 1996 rose to Senior Manager, Synergy/Alliance Marketing and Talent Executive at Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Marketing.
Guerini began his career as a staff writer for The Miami Herald and later worked in on-air, promotions and programming for multiple radio stations (WHYI, WSHE Fort Lauderdale/Miami and WZGC Atlanta) and promotion for record labels (MCA, A&M, Chrysalis and EastWest Records).
Guerini was born in San Diego, California and raised in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Broadcast/Communications from the University of Miami. He is based at Radio Disney’s Burbank, California offices and resides in Santa Clarita with his wife and daughter, a Radio Disney fan.
