Journey through two connected fields on the cutting edge of human evolution: Music Discovery and Emotional Intelligence. Utilizing techniques in data-visualization, game design, and spatial cognition, two pioneering approaches to maps take us to the borders of learning.
Explorers and pioneers of human experience need tools to understand and describe what they encounter. Maps have long held an important function in how we share the world. Peter Swearengen, founding producer of mappable, a visual-spatial music discovery app, interviews Eric Roddenbeck, CEO of Stamen, a company providing maps of many unexpected subjects, including a project for His Holiness the Dalai Lama about human emotion.
I founded Stamen Design in 2001 in San Francisco's Mission District and proudly run this independent mapping and data visualization studio today.
