Homa Sabet Tavangar is the author of acclaimed Growing Up Global: Raising Children to Be At Home in the World (Random House), The Global Education Toolkit, and co-author of a new, 3-book World Class Learners series, looking at the elements needed for creative, entrepreneurial learning. Homa’s ability to translate culture, innovation and globalization trends, and breakthroughs in academic and social-emotional learning has helped spark initiatives from CEOs to kindergartners to learn and thrive in a global context – and have fun along the way.
She is Series Consultant for NBC Sprout Channel’s animated children’s program Nina’s World, starring Rita Moreno and Mandy Patinkin. Homa has worked with diverse schools, corporations, non-profits, and children’s media on optimizing learning, empathy, inclusion, women’s empowerment, and global competence. She has been a contributor to Edutopia, NationalGeographic Edu, PBS, HuffingtonPost, KidsHealth.org, the PulitzerCenter, and is a frequent keynote speaker. Homa serves as Vice-Chair of the Tahirih Justice Center, assisting immigrant women and girls fleeing violence. She has lived on four continents, and her heritage includes four world religions. A graduate of UCLA and Princeton University, she is married and the mother of three daughters, ages 22, 20, and 12.
