Numbers Don’t Lie? Women Worldwide Might Disagree…

Monday, March 14
11:25AM - 11:45AM

Girls and women are half of the global population, and their wellbeing and opportunities determine the speed of global progress. However, the policies, programs, and investments aimed at advancing gender equality are based on data that misrepresents the realities of their lives.

This conversation between Emily Courey Pryor, Senior Director, Data2X and Andrea Wong, Head of Programming, World Economic Forum will discuss the persistent dearth of global gender data, explore why ‘bad data’ is worse than ‘no data’, and describe the need for a gender data revolution to measure and inspire progress on gender equality and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.

This event is part of the SXgood Hub, a creative content venue that is curated and produced by SXSW Eco in partnership with the United Nations Foundation. Learn more and see the Hub’s full schedule of events here.
