Synopsis
DOMINGUINHOS is an evocative and sensual portrait of legendary Brazilian composer, accordionist, and singer Dominguinhos, featuring rare archival footage and vibrant musical clips with internationally known artists including Gilberto Gil, Gal Costa, Hermeto Pascoal, Djavan and Nara Leao. Born into an impoverished yet musically gifted family, Dominguinhos was an accordion prodigy who became a master of musical genres, known for popularizing Brazilian music as well as his work in the genres of bossa nova, tropicalia, funk, jazz, and more. Dominguinhos was a Brazilian national treasure who became an international sensation and brought vibrant and joyous Brazilian music to the world.

Director Bio
Joaquim Castro worked as cinematographer, editor and sound designer in the feature-documentaries Olho Nu (directed by Joel Pizzini), about the life of the musician Ney Matogrosso, and “Jards” (directed by Eryk Rocha).
Dominguinhos is the debut film from Eduardo Nazarian and Mariana Aydar.
