Our engagement with music is captured as never before to produce actionable information, which has value not only for marketing artistic products but also verifying audience attributes to prospective advertisers and sponsors. Valuation of this data has become a key point of negotiation in music transactions or dispute resolutions, such as acquisitions, financing transactions, or leaving member situations. Understanding how this data is collected, who owns the data, and how such data can be used to extract the greatest value for an artist or a rights holder is critical to long-term financial success.
