In a world of hyper-connectivity and fragmented communication consumption, our ever-increasing volume of big data is only useful if it drives insights that are comprehended. And that is, to a great extent, dependent on how well they’re visualized.
This panel will look at Design as a powerful visual storytelling tool to craft clear, entertaining and emotionally engaging narratives told via graphics rather than print, when faced with complicated data-driven stories to tell. Presented by Team Detroit.

Michele Silvestri is the design evangelist and visual language guardian at WPP’s Team Detroit, a fully integrated, 1,500-person, communications agency. Her role is to cultivate strategic design thinking and beautiful, crafted communications for all of their clients’ brands, including Ford, where her duties take on a global scale, collaborating with partner offices around the world. Under her leadership, Ford established its first ever Global Look + Style, aligning a visual framework for all communications worldwide. Not an easy feat. Prior to Team Detroit, Silvestri has led design efforts at JWT, FCB, Bozell, and Perich for a variety of brands. Silvestri has been recognized by the EFFIEs, CA, AIGA, GDUSA, TDC, DDF, The D Show and the Urban Green Council. She serves on the Advisory Board of the DC3 and is a past Executive Board member of AIGA Detroit. Michele was also named one of Graphic Design USA’s “2013 People to Watch” and was a panelist at 2013 Open:Co Detroit and 2013 SXSWi.Hide the rest
