Stopping Outbreaks with Genomics

Saturday, March 14
12:30PM - 1:30PM

JW Marriott
Room 201-202
110 E 2nd St

Bacteria and viruses are passed between people with every touch and breath that we take. Some of those transmissible microbes can cause devastating disease and the healthcare industry is making great strides to prevent those illnesses. By applying the amazing technologies developed to sequence the human genome to bacteria and viruses, scientists can detect each jump that they make between human hosts with incredible accuracy and precision, radically transforming public health for the better.
This session will teach a novice audience about genomics and how it can reinvigorate our fight against infectious disease.
