Designing the UI for the Internet of Things
This presentation will describe the unique opportunities, challenges, and considerations of designing and developing voice interfaces for increasingly intelligent, aware and variably sized form factors and applications - including wearable devices, home automation solutions, smartphones, gaming and personal health applications and more. Specifically, we'll focus on two key components of the design and development process: Decisions that affect the type of voice technology needed to support the voice interface (and how deeply integrated it will be), and decisions that affect how end users understand, perceive, and interact with the voice interface – and how it behaves in return.
Voice interfaces have the potential to significantly enhance the way that we communicate and interact with technology. Talking to our appliances and other devices? What seems like achievable fantasy will only be possible through thoughtful design principles that serve both the person and the device.
