Millennials and Sports: Reaching Next Gen Fans
As millennials become a larger part of the coveted 18-49 demographic, media companies are having to adjust their programing and distribution strategies for a consumer who is watching just as much video on PCs, tablets and phones as they are on TV. Despite having the advantages of huge consumer demand and the DVR-proof nature of live sports programming, the world of sports media has had to embrace multi-platform distribution in order to super serve fans. In this session, Peter Kafka will join the NFL’s Chief Digital Officer Perkins Miller, NFL Network Executive Producer Eric Weinberger, and Indianapolis Colts Punter Pat McAfee to discuss programming and distribution strategies for reaching millennials in the world of sports, and how the NFL, through platforms such as NFL Network and the new digital video network NFL Now as well as external partnerships, has kept pace with changing consumer and fan consumption habits.
