A surgeon can operate thousands of miles away from their patient. A drone pilot can find criminals from an air-conditioned office. Work that relies on touch and feel or visual acuity—the sort of things that are tactile and trigger the parts of the brain to react to what you touch, see and smell all at once—is becoming detached from the physical.
