Is Gamification the Key to Engaging Mobile?
Digital marketing has been a step behind from the start, rehashing the ubiquitous banner and video ad formats from print and tv into annoying user experiences that under-optimise the digital space. Yet we may finally be at a real shifting point, brought about by a slow convergence of native and mobile technologies that unleashes highly personalised experiences directly aimed at the end user. The current environment is primed for gamification, the introduction of emotional and physical interactions that drastically improve the way brands engage consumers. The results are startling: gamification strategies are equally successful at creating high-impact interactions that shift core equity metrics and offer an incremental revenue stream to website owners. They are allowing brands to become more helpful, memorable and lovable. If 2014 was all about native content, 2015 is going to be all about quality of engagements.
