Edmund Jackson is the Chief Data Scientist for Hospital Corporation of America (HCA), which is the largest hospital management company in the US. HCA’s is in the midst of creating the largest electronic health record (EHR) in the history of the nation. Dr. Jackson is responsible for the design and implementation of sophisticated Big Data Analytics for the data warehouse. His team will be at the forefront of turning petabytes of clinical data into actionable information that will allow physicians to deliver safer medical care to their patients and will empower patients to better understand their medical conditions and treatments. Prior to joining HCA, Dr. Jackson has served as a consultant and quantitative researcher for numerous companies; he also founded the Lambda Next consulting company. Dr. Jackson earned a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Cambridge.

Maninder “Mini” Kahlon, PhD is the Executive Director and a Board member of UCSF’s Clinical & Translational Science Institute (CTSI) that facilitates the rapid translation of research to improvements in patient and community health. Established in 2006, the CTSI was among the first of the now 60-member, National Institutes of Health (NIH)-funded, Clinical and Translational Science Awards (CTSA) consortium. A neuroscientist trained at UCSF, she also brings experience from working in the software industry in Silicon Valley and the philanthropic non-profit sector. Mini has spoken in many of contexts, ranging from describing the cognitive science of unconscious processing to Kaiser doctors, catalyzing social change through technology at SXSW, and the creation of national networks of research expertise at the NIH. In 2014, Mini will be joining the Dell Medical School at UT Austin as Vice Dean Strategy & Partnerships.
