Streams, Shuffles and Statutes: Congress and Music
Why do we see so few startups enter into the music technology space? Many would argue that the current music licensing structure makes it too difficult for startups to negotiate licenses, come up with creative ideas in the space, and ultimately turn a profit. Come hear representatives from Pandora and the Digital Media Association (DiMA) have a direct conversation with the Member of Congress who is leading the legislative charge to simplify and modernize the music licensing system. The panel will explore topics like how the Internet will shape the future of radio and how even podcasting can be complicated by music licensing. Congressman Chaffetz will talk more about the battles he has been fighting in Congress and the need for transparency in the system. And the panelists will touch on some of the hottest topics in an ever changing industry.
