Exploring Storytelling in the Digital Age

Monday, March 16
11:00AM - 12:00PM

Four Seasons
Ballroom AB
98 San Jacinto Blvd

Iap34533

Andrew Cochrane and other creatives at Guillermo del Toro's imaginarium, Mirada, are working to apply the craft of storytelling across numerous digital mediums. Emerging technologies are changing the way that stories are created, told, and enjoyed; as a result, they have been creating installations, web experiences, mobile/tablet apps, and content for virtual and augmented reality.

This session will walk through the areas that are being explored, with the goal of showcasing the potential in each. It will demonstrate the exciting future of storytelling, using case studies of some projects, such as IBM Think, ro.me and MirrorWorld, as well as works that exemplify creative ways to tell interactive and immersive stories. This will be an examination of how innovative narrative structures can take advantage of new technical abilities.

Telling engaging stories is an ancient skill, but it is rapidly evolving, and this session will show the ways that creatives can get in on the action.
