Barton Gellman, a critically honored journalist and author, is senior fellow at the Century Foundation and Lecturer at Princeton’s Woodrow Wilson School. He is one of three journalists entrusted by Edward Snowden last May with top secret NSA archives. In December, he was the first to interview Snowden face to face in Moscow.
Gellman is researching a book on the NSA, Silicon Valley and the surveillance-industrial revolution. His previous books include the bestselling “Angler: The Cheney Vice Presidency,” (New York Times Best Books of 2008) and “Contending with Kennan: Toward a Philosophy of American Power."
Gellman left The Washington Post in 2010 after 21 years as legal, military, diplomatic, Middle East and special projects correspondent. He returned on temporary assignment in 2013 to anchor the paper's coverage of surveillance, privacy and security. His professional honors include two Pulitzer Prizes, the Los Angeles Times Book Prize, the George Polk Award, the Henry Luce Award, Harvard's Goldsmith Prize for investigative reporting.
