Is Responsive Web Design The Wrong Paradigm?

#sxsw #Proof

Is responsive web design the wrong paradigm? Do you architect & design for devices, browsers or end users?

Let’s challenge how we think about responsive design. This session fosters the exploration of the current rationale and standards that web designers and developers adhere to when building for the various device displays, resolutions, and connection speeds of their audiences.

This isn’t necessarily a conversation about trade tools, polyfills, or even the “mobile first” approach – though it could easily turn into that.

Primarily, we want to challenge ourselves on why and when we turn to responsive design. Is it just because we can? Just learned how to? Promised someone that we would? Or because we thoroughly explored our options and audience metrics.
