Crowdfunding Real Change for Girls & Women
We all believe in equality for girls and women. #Duh. Yet less than 7% of funding goes to girls and women's causes, and one in four organizations that work on those issues is in danger of closing. To solve that problem, we created Catapult.
Catapult is a new crowdfunding site which connects people who care about justice with organizations working on the frontline for girls and women around the world. In its first year, Catapult achieved incredible results -- raising millions for nonprofit partners' projects around the world.
We believe it’s important that we find ways to work differently to advance the cause of girls and women’s rights. It’s time to get out of the bubble that gender equality has been stuck in, stop talking to ourselves, and reach out to new audiences, embracing innovative new ways of collaborating and communicating.
Founder & Creative Dir
Maz Kessler is Catapult's Founder. After working as a songwriter/producer in New York's downtown music scene at the center of the digital music revolution, she then worked in the tech sector for 10 years, pioneering social and voice interfaces for Microsoft, BMW, Schwab, and more. In 2002 Maz brought her creative and design experience to citizen-led change. She co-founded Keep a Child Alive, an HIV/AIDS foundation, then joined Advocacy International, as its Creative Director. Since 2007 Maz has worked with Women Deliver. She created Catapult to help meet the need for increased funding, citizen engagement, and coalition-building across a strong, multi-generational girls and women’s movement.
