Consumer Robots Everywhere: The Next Big Thing

#sxsw #robots

There are so many talented roboticists in the world, but so few of them are conveying their breakthrough robotic technologies where they can really make a difference; out of the research labs and into our homes! What is holding up the robots? Why don’t we have Rosie Jetson in our homes and workplaces? Cost.
Amazing humanoid and research robotics can be expensive but robots that serve a real purpose in everyday life do not have to be overly complicated. A truly useful robot is affordable, easy to use, serviceable, and above all, accessible. Only then will the future of robotics begin to be clear, but it is closer than we think!
Dmitry Grishin, the founder of the first-ever robotics-focused VC fund, and Bilal Zuberi, a partner at Lux Capital, a bi-coastal early stage VC firm, will explore why affordable personal robotics is the next big thing in innovation, offer their take on the growing robotic marketplace, and explore the problems with the current robotics industry.
