Mentor session signup is open to all Film, Gold and Platinum badge holders at a first-come, first-served basis. Registrants who signed up online must check-in 30 minutes before your mentor time slot to guarantee your spot. Limited on-site signup is also available for a small number of mentor sessions spots and will begin 30 minutes before the first time slot of each session.

Charlie founded the fan club for the band Korn in high school and went on to work at Epic Records and later Sony Music as the college marketing representative for Washington DC, MD and DE throughout college. After making a series of awful black and white films at NYU’s basic filmmaking class in 2000, he went to NYU School of Law, where he launched CinemaStrikesBack.com, a website for film news and reviews. After law school, he worked at Outlaw Productions in Hollywood, and then in the mergers and acquisitions group at Skadden in NYC from 2003 to 2006, during which time he also produced a feature length documentary about underground poker clubs in NYC. Charlie joined the film and television group at Grubman Shire & Meiselas in 2007. He is on the film committee at MoMA, the new wave film committee at Lincoln Center, and is on the board of directors at DCTV and the Friars Club. In 2009 he was certified as a film festival professional by the international film festival summit. He proudly watches over 500 movies a year and is delighted to be returning for the legal mentors session at SXSW!

Dan is the President and Chair of the Minnesota Film & TV Board, the film commission for the State of Minnesota.
