DJ Axis Powers

4315

DJ Axis Powers (AKA Markus Hrdina) hails from New Jersey and is a
founding member of Brooklyn-based rock band, Shinobi Ninja, and the
Stone Cutters DJ crew. With over six years in the DJ battle scene,
Axis established himself as one of the best East Coast DJs by placing
in Guitar Center and WMC battles. He gained national status in 2008
when the late Grand Master Roc Raida invited him to compete at the
National Gong Finals in NYC against the best turntablists in America.
His skills and celebrated experience led him to a position as resident
club DJ alongside DJ Ani Quinn at Hudson Terrace and Tenjune, two of
NYC's hottest nightclubs. Just after touring with the legendary Wu
Tang Clan in late 2008, DJ Axis helped found Shinobi Ninja and toured
the U.S. relentlessly, sharing stages with Snoop Dogg and The Black
Keys (Catalpa NYC Music Festival), 311, Sublime, and Ballyhoo (311's
Pow Wow Festival), Bad Rabbits (The Warped Tour), Slightly Stoopid and
Rise Against (Summerfest), Tom Morello's Street Sweeper Social Club,
Mike Posner, and Chiddy Bang while also appearing at SXSW, CMJ and
more. The official video for the band's single, “Slow Mourning”,
became their second add to MTVU's regular rotation alongside "Rock
Hood", which was featured on Q104.3FM in NYC and in the soundtrack to
the NBA 2K12 Video Game, selling over 4 millions units worldwide.
