East Bay Ray is the guitarist and a songwriter for Dead Kennedys. The group has been called "one of the most popular and important American hardcore punk bands of the late seventies/early eighties" by the Rough Guide to Rock and “the undoubted kings of U.S. punk” by the Encyclopedia of Popular Music.
From the start, Ray was instrumental in setting up and running the band’s independent business and record label. The DKs still function independently to this day and have reached the impressive achievement of having "Give Me Convenience or Give Me Death" certified a Gold Record in both the United States and the United Kingdom.
Ray is a Graduate of University of California, Berkeley and according to Rankopedia.com, is currently ranked #1 “Greatest Punk Guitar Players Ever.”
