Confessions of a Community Moderator

#sxsw #modconfess

Back by popular demand, we bring you Community Confessions. Double agent. First Responder. Cheerleader. They’re all fair descriptors of the now prevalent role of Community Manager. Whether you are one yourself or just morbidly curious about “the man behind the curtain,” you know there are incredible stories from those who have the rare opportunity to interact with both the brand and the customers. No matter how much they love their communities, moderators have their fair share of “I can’t believe this is happening” moments. All in real time. Returning for the second year, we’re here to confirm you are not alone. With moderators from Hard Rock, Betty Crocker and Jim Beam, we'll come together to share, commiserate and learn about the latest and greatest best practices in technology, fan management, governance and more from those representing a diverse array of brands. Come for the vent session; stay for the camaraderie and tips for staying sane.

Kristin Rupert Digital Content Producer Imagination

Kristin is a Content Producer at Imagination. She manages clients’ online presence by developing and producing digital content throughout a myriad of online channels, and builds and grows their online communities. The fact that her role helps people have leveled conversations with brands is what geeks herself out about her job.

Upon graduating from Ithaca College with a degree in Integrated Marketing Communications, she said goodbye to New York and returned to her favorite city and hometown of Chicago to pursue her career in digital marketing. Three years of experience building comprehensive digital strategies from the ground up for hospitality companies and creative agencies are what paved the path to where she is today.

When Kristin isn’t doing business things, she’s working on her cooking skills, wine knowledge (responsibly so), dance moves, and being funnier – sometimes by taking comedy classes, other times by using innocent bystanders as a test audience.
