Eddie Huang is one of the food world's brightest young stars, boldly redefining American identity for the 21st century as a writer, chef, entrepreneur and TV personality. Huang was born in the American South to FOB ("fresh off the boat") Taiwanese parents. Eddie Huang is a chef and writer based in New York City. He is widely known as the chef and owner of BaoHaus, which has received critical acclaim and coverage from The New York Times, The New York Post, CNN, NBC, CBS, The Village Voice, Town & Country, XXL, The Source, Complex, Entrepreneur, The Wall Street Journal and many other outlets. BaoHaus earned a flawless “$25 and Under” review from The New York Times, “Best Bun 2010” from New York, “Best Fries” from TimeOut New York 2010, “New Cheap Eats Classics” from TimeOut New York 2012 and Top 10 Eats The Village Voice among others. He has plans to expand BaoHaus to other locations in New York City.

While other chefs have stayed in the kitchen, Eddie has become just as prolific outside of it thanks to his blog Fresh Off the Boat for which he’s received several accolades. Eddie defines his own lane as an outspoken cultural commentator. He has a raw, uncut and wittiness to his voice that represents his generation and defies others. Eddie has made the “Chow 13” in 2011 for his groundbreaking use of social media and Zagat’s 30 Under 30 list for his work both in and out of the kitchen.

In January 2013, he’ll release a memoir also called Fresh Off the Boat, with publisher Spiegel and Grau, a division of Random House. Additionally, Eddie has been enlisted to write articles and columns for Complex,, New York Observer and more. He travels seamlessly between worlds with an uncanny ability to find stories and champion the issues that need to be heard.

Eddie has been filming his own Vice series that’s described as a “genre bending venture of subcultures through the lens of food”, that features him traveling between cities in the United States and Taiwan, exploring the cultural and culinary habits of the local underdogs. The series premiered in October with new episodes airing until February 2013.

With his work being recognized for bridging food with hip-hop, immigration, comedy, politics and metropolitan life, Eddie was enlisted to host his own TV special on Cooking Channel called Cheap Bites in January 2012. He has also appeared on other programs including Cooking Channel’s “Unique Eats” series on multiple occasions and Anthony Bourdain’s newest series “The Layover.” In the fall, Eddie will host his own series “Fresh Off the Boat” thanks to a new partnership with Vice.

Eddie has also shared his experiences at several notable conferences including Big Omaha, Southern Food Alliance Symposium, Skillshare and various educational institutions.

It is impossible to predict where and what side Eddie will end up on, but his perspective is guaranteed to entertain and inspire.
