How Dungeons & Dragons Prepared Me for UX

#sxsw #DnDUX

RSVP Required - User-centered design can be characterized as a multi-stage problem solving process that not only requires designers to analyze and foresee how users are likely to use a product, but also to test the validity of their assumptions with regard to user behavior in the real world with actual users.

In the Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) role-playing game, the Dungeon Master or DM is the game organizer in charge of creating the details and challenges of a given adventure while maintaining a realistic continuity of events. In effect, the DM controls all aspects of the game, except for the actions of the player characters, and describes to the other players what they see and hear.
