Many companies exist to bridge the gap between a label and digital stores or between an artist and fans, but when should they be used? While it's feasible for the content owner to create systems, deal with contracts, and build technology to directly service the stores and fans, does that make the most business sense? Each service provider has a different value that costs a different amount. How do you determine which is right for you?

BRAD NAVIN was appointed to Chief Executive Officer of The Orchard in February 2010. Prior to being named CEO, Brad served as Vice President and General Manager, where he oversaw global marketing, licensing, operations, and was responsible for the implementation and supervision of the company’s global business strategy. Before joining The Orchard, Brad served as a senior executive at Digital Club Network and was also an artist manager at Invasion Group Management. Brad holds a B.A. from Loyola College. Brad is a sucker for a song with a good hook and is very proud of the fact that his son’s first earworm was “Yellow Submarine”.

Following a three year stint as a music journalist, DeSavia worked in ASCAP Membership from 1989 to 1996 in the Pop/Rock membership department. He left to join Elektra Entertainment's A&R department from 1996 - 2001, and then rejoined ASCAP from 2001 - 2009 to head up the ASCAP Pop/Rock staff as Sr. VP of Membership. In 2009, Tom left ASCAP to join Damon Booth at Notable Music as Partner/Vice President of Creative - together they are determined to grow the independent music publishing company (started by the legendary Cy Coleman in 1962) by expanding its already rich catalog and branching the business into a variety of new ventures. Notable's growing roster includes the Coleman estate, Jon Brion, Rosanne Cash, Sam Phillips, Bobby Hebb, Jenny O., Kendra Morris, and a joint-venture with Wax Poetics magazine, among others.
