Gary Small, MD, is Professor and Chair of Psychiatry at Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine and Behavioral Health Physician-in-Chief at Hackensack Meridian Health. He is a co-inventor of the first positron emission tomography (PET) scanning method that provides images in living people of the physical evidence of Alzheimer’s disease. In addition to testing compounds that may benefit cognitive abilities and possibly delay the onset of Alzheimer's disease symptoms, Dr. Small has studied and developed lifestyle and memory training programs for improving cognition and healthy aging. Dr. Small has authored over 500 scientific works and received numerous awards and honors. Scientific American magazine named him one of the world’s top 50 innovators in science and technology.
