Folk Alliance International is the world’s largest membership organization for the folk music industry and community with a mission to preserve, promote, and present folk music. FAI x SXSW features (mostly) acts that have played official showcases at FAI’s annual conference. FAI values diversity, equity, inclusion, and access, is committed to gender parity in all programming, celebrates multiple languages/cultures, and welcomes participation from marginalized and underrepresented communities. FAI defines folk as “the music of the people'' and supports an array of subgenres. FAI’s next conference is February 19-23, 2025 in Montreal, Québec, Canada.
