Matthew Weinberg is an early-stage investor at Max Ventures, a venture capital fund that primarily invests in digital commerce and digital healthcare startups across the United States and Scandinavia. He also runs Faces of 5G as its Executive Director, an initiative aimed at educating leaders in the public and private sectors about the benefits of 5G technology.

Prior to his current roles, he was a White House appointee in the U.S. Small Business Administration and served as Senior Advisor in the Office of Investment and Innovation. He helped drive federal programs that directed over $6 billion in capital to investment funds, early-stage technology companies, and accelerators and incubators across the country.

Before joining the Obama Administration, Matthew worked for the New York City Economic Development Corporation and managed and led city-wide programs aimed at developing and supporting the City’s technology and entrepreneurial ecosystems.

Matthew has prior experience working on Capitol Hill, at the White House and on multiple political campaigns. He was on the marketing team for President Obama’s 2012 re-election campaign and raised $2.5 million in campaign donations.

Matthew is an op-ed contributor on Forbes, TechCrunch, Huffington Post, and several other publications. He is also a frequent speaker at events across the country on topics including venture capital, technology, economic development, and public policy. He holds a B.A. in History from the University of Washington and an MBA from Columbia Business School.
