Emmy nominee Xan Aranda is an award-winning director, producer, and consultant with projects ranging from fiction and documentary film and TV to branded content, commercials, and music videos.
With Mark and Jay Duplass, Xan developed and serves as an Executive Producer of HBO’s ROOM 104, an anthology series to be released late 2017.
She also produced BLUE JAY with Mel Eslyn, starring Mark Duplass and Sarah Paulson, which premiered at the 2016 Toronto International Film Festival.
Xan’s Emmy nomination was alongside Jill Soloway for Transparent’s THIS IS ME, a collection of short films for which she served as Producer and Co-Executive Producer. “You made magic, moved the world and made it seem effortless.” --Jill Soloway
With its world premiere at the New York Film Festival and Lincoln Center, Xan’s directorial debut ANDREW BIRD: FEVER YEAR was described by The Hollywood Reporter as a “gently illuminating look at a brilliant maverick musician… captured with grace and delicacy.” FEVER YEAR screened in over 90 festivals and took home nine awards.
Her clients have included Focus Features, Amazon, Epitaph Records, Starbucks, the U.S. Department of Education, and a wide variety of acclaimed independent content creators.
Xan’s in-progress film (currently untitled) is a co-production with documentary powerhouse Kartemquin Films (HOOP DREAMS), and is inspired by dramatic religious educational films her mother starred in while a student at Brigham Young University.
Xan is a producer of the award-winning Kartemquin Films release MILKING THE RHINO, which filmed in Kenya and Namibia, and received four stars from the Chicago Tribune.
