Prateek Garg

Manager
Open Source Pharma Foundation

Prateek Garg is an Indo-French synthetic biologist and serial entrepreneur. He has a Masters in Interdisciplinary Life Sciences and has a passion for solving world problems using biology. He has co-founded Unibiome Inc., a deep-tech company tackling malnutrition in developing countries using synthetic microbial biology. They develop Open Source microbial formulations that can be freely shared in developing communities and be used to prepare fermented foods. Any foods prepared using these microbial formulations automatically contain more vitamin A, B2 and B12 and bioavailable Iron in them. His next venture is based on discovering a new class of anti-microbial molecules that wouldn’t get antimicrobial resistance developed against them, thus potentially delaying the post-antibiotic era we’re about to enter as a society whereby common infections would again become life threatening because none of the existing antibiotics would work on them due to antibiotic resistance.
