Euan Ashley

Dr. Ashley directs the Clinical Genome Service and the Center for Inherited Cardiovascular Disease at Stanford Hospital. He has a medical degree from the University of Glasgow and a Ph.D. in molecular genetics and cellular biology from the University of Oxford. His research group carried out the first clinical interpretation of a human genome in 2010, and now routinely applies genome sequencing to the diagnosis of patients at Stanford Hospital. Dr. Ashley has received numerous awards for his work on genetic heart disease. He is a principle investigator of MyHeartCounts, a clinical study administered via mobile phone. He is also co-founder of Personalis, Inc, a genetic diagnostics company focused on the development of clinical grade genome scale diagnostics. Father to three young Americans, in his free time, he tries to understand American sports, plays the saxophone, and, having been born and raised in Scotland, conducts research on the health benefits of single malt Scotch whisky.
