What exactly is mindfulness and meditation? Why have the likes of Oprah Winfrey, Rick Rubin, and Clint Eastwood established meditation practices? How is it helpful in today’s chaotic, ever changing world? What’s all the fuss about being here and now? The workshop will begin and end with short meditation sessions. We’ll discuss a high-level history of meditation, practical benefits of meditation, and simple meditation techniques that can be used virtually anywhere. We’ll review and debunk common reasons for people’s reluctance to start a meditation practice (“I don’t have enough time.” “I don’t know how to do it correctly.” “Is this some sort of new age mumbo jumbo?”). We will also explore how meditation allows us to examine the filter through which we interpret and experience our lives. Participants are encouraged to ask questions, share personal insights, and give credence to their inner guidance.
