The Real Information Revolution
In order to stay in power, the world’s most repressive regimes use a variety of tools to censor information. At the same time, dissidents across the globe are using technology to fight back. Join us to hear how Eritreans in exile leave phone messages of freedom to those trapped inside the country; how Cuban and North Korean activists use flash drives to break down state propaganda; and how underground journalists in Syria smuggle out video to expose atrocities committed by the Assad regime and ISIS. The odds are against them, but each person shows how anyone can make a difference in challenging a dictatorship.
