The New Face of Engineering

Mar 11, 2017

5:00pm – 6:00pm CT

Left or right brain? Math or art? These are questions we encounter when deciding on a career path, and for the engineering field, it means that an enormous group of people with creative inclinations won’t enter the field. Now, with the convergence of fashion and technology, we are seeing a new type of engineer emerge – one such as Intel’s Sandra Lopez, who is marrying creative skills with the “harder” skills of engineering. In this session, Lopez will discuss how the fashion industry is opening the door for a new type of engineer who combines creative and science skills for emerging fashion concepts, how it is driving the STEM pipeline, and how fostering diversity inspires better products.
