Improving Physicians' Understanding of Patients
Healthcare data exists on many islands – each using proprietary technologies to store and manage data. Improving the ability of the physician to understand the patient’s story while also improving the experience of the consumer as he/she moves between these islands will require data to flow seamlessly everywhere data are available. Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR) is a next generation standards framework of modular components that can facilitate interoperability of health data. Based on case study data, participants at a recent health app design challenge developed a FHIR-compliant application that intuitively communicates the patient’s status to any interested party.
