For the People, by the People: The Human Algorithm

Sunday, March 13
12:30PM - 1:30PM

JW Marriott
Salon 5
110 E 2nd St

How can governments “start with human need” through ethnographic research when faced with the complexity in serving “everyone?” Do we start with big data? Can we use technology AND keep our human focus? How do we scale listening and sense-making? How might we shift the power of interpretation to the community and allow innovation to be non-linear, emergent, and situated in the needs of local communities? Dave Snowden’s Cognitive Edge links micro-narratives with human sense-making to create advanced decision support, research and monitoring capability. Gal Alon’s crowd consulting app Insights, turns the wisdom of clients, employees, and citizens into advice decision makers can use.
