Dana Mead joined KPCB in 2005 to work in the firm’s life sciences practice, leveraging his experience to support entrepreneurs & innovators dedicated to making a real difference in the lives of millions suffering from life-limiting diseases.

For the past 30 years, Dana’s career has focused on identifying new medical technologies, developing new markets and therapies, & building world-class management teams. Before joining KPCB, Dana was president of Guidant Vascular Intervention, a fully integrated billion-dollar division with more than 4,500 employees.

Dana currently serves on the boards of Apnicure, ATI, Awarepoint, Inspire Medical Systems, Intersect ENT, Pulmonx, Spiracur, Teladoc, California Healthcare Institute & Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital at Stanford University. Previous boards include Corventis (acquired by Medtronic) Spinal Modulation (Acquired by St. Jude Medical) & OtisMed (acquired by Stryker). Dana holds an M.B.A from the University of Southern California.

Rick has over 25 years of senior executive leadership experience in the medical device industry.

Prior to joining PTV, Rick was Company Group Chairman, Johnson & Johnson, and Worldwide Franchise Chairman, Cordis Corporation. Rick also served as President of Cordis Corporation and was previously Worldwide Franchise Vice President of Centocor, Inc., which merged with Johnson & Johnson in 1999. Rick was a key architect behind the launch of the world’s first drug-eluting stent, the CYPHER® Sirolimus-eluting Coronary Stent. This breakthrough innovation for the treatment of restenosis (reblockage) has been used to treat more than three million patients worldwide. Before joining Johnson & Johnson, Rick served at Racal HealthCare, Inc., where he was Vice President, Global Marketing and prior to that, he spent a decade with Boehringer Mannheim Pharmaceuticals and Allergan Pharmaceuticals in various U.S. and global sales, sales management, and marketing management roles.

Rick holds a B.B.A. in Marketing from Mississippi State University. He served five years in the U.S. Army where he obtained the rank of captain. Rick serves as a Texas Health Catalyst Advisory Panel Member for The University of Texas Dell Medical School and as a Strategic Advisory Group Member for Nikon Corporation. Rick is also a member of the Economic Advisory Board of Mississippi State University, a consultant member of the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions, and he has worked within the industry to shape global education of interventional specialties. He participates in the AdvaMed Venture Capital Advisory Council and the Dartmouth Device Development (3D) Symposium Executive Committee, and he is a Director for the Heart Rhythm Society (HRS) Consulting Services and a member of the Accelerated Innovation Program Working Group for the National Heart Lung and Blood Institute (NHLBI).
