No Young Pros: Keeping Youth Sports Accessible

Sunday, March 13
3:30PM - 4:30PM

Four Seasons
San Jacinto
98 San Jacinto Blvd

Youth sports as we’ve known them are over. Parents now spend an average of 10.5% of household income on youth sports. One third of family trips are to related activities. The pursuit of college scholarships is a big part of this distortion of youth sports, and the focus on recruiting creates all kinds of issues. What’s the parent’s responsibility in all of this? And the NCAA? And the private leagues generating millions of dollars each year? What should be the ROI of youth sports? Fun, free play, personal development? There is no stopping the youth sports engine - how can we work with these leagues to preserve the accessibility of youth sports, to make sure that children are benefiting?
