Festivals on the Big Screen: A Global Opportunity?

Wednesday, March 16
12:45PM - 1:45PM

Austin Convention Center
Room 8C
531 E 4th St

Live and repeat screenings of theatre, opera and classical music accounts for $29 million (18.7%) of all UK cinema box office (BFI Statistical Yearbook 2014). 'Popular music' concerts, however, only account for 0.5%.

Our panel explore the potential for popular music to hit the big screen internationally, replicating the festival experience in cinemas and pop up screens around the world. With music festival tourism on the rise, we talk through a hypothetical live stream event, including tech planning, licensing and international PR opportunities, questioning whether festival festival growth abroad can start with a big screen audience at home.
