Modern Manufacturing: Ideation Meets Production
75% of ideas never make it to the prototype phase. The new wave of manufacturing is about bridging users with ideas and manufacturers whose experience can help engineer a better product. Local manufacturing reduces the physical distance between ideation and production allowing for intimacy and iterative feedback in product creation. It is this closeness that empowers the mother of an epileptic girl to produce more functional medical garments at a factory to test in a local hospital. And two skateboarders to create a line of clothing for their skater community. Through the stories of 5 brands, we will show how using local resources to design products, better products are produced.
