Smart Cars, Smarter Cities: New Transit Tech
What does a smart road look like? Or a sharable car? Or a fully sensorized city? Mobile connectivity and the Internet of Things (IoT) offer city planners new ways to address urban inefficiencies, such as congested city arteries, insufficient parking and overburdened energy grids. Welcome to the era of “smart” cities. This session will explore the physical architecture of smart, connected, shareable cities - what they look like; how transportation and logistics will be disrupted by IoT; how the sharing economy is reshaping urban living; and how real-time use of data will help us move people and things more efficiently.
