In May 2009, KING KANJA earned a BA in Theater Arts from Hampton University. In October 2009, his infectious music and versatile performances led to his coveted win on BET’s 106 & Park Wild Out Wednesdays. In June 2010, he was invited back to BET for an encore performance in the all-star segment of 106 & Park. Noted that year KING KANJA also had a crowd pleasing performance at the Howard Yardfest in 2010 at Howard University alongside Shaggy, Mr. Vegas, Wale, Slick Rick, Rick Ross.
In 2011 KING KANJA began making his rounds within the industry with his high energy stage performances which led him to be invited to perform in 2 shows alongside reggae/dancehall stars Mr. Vegas & Demarco on their reggae tour in St. louis, Mo and Nashville,TN. 2012 Led KING KANJA back to his hometown in Nairobi, Kenya where he opened up for Akon in concert on October 28th. 2012-2013 was a pivotal part of King Kanja's career. After doing that show he decided to move back to Kenya for a while to get back in touch with his roots and to build his connection with his core fan base of his hometown. That year in 2013 he took a brief journey back to the U.S with his business manager Iyke Anoke during that time period, to Atlanta to meet with Nigerian U.S music industry executive Efe One and his client Nicki Minaj's first signed artist and producer Parker Ighile who is from London with routes from Nigeria. While in Atlanta he also had a chance to connect and bond with the biggest group from Africa, Nigerian international superstars P-square. Shortly after returning to Kenya from his brief U.S visit KING KANJA was invited to Lagos, Nigeria for a series of radio interviews, and the televised show Soundcity. One of the many highlights of 2013 for KING KANJA was when he was selected to perform on the live recorded show as an MTV BASE Africa All-Star representing Kenya in which took place in his hometown. Nairobi, Kenya. That year he also starred as the main character and hero in the 2013 Coca-cola commercial "Africa Lets Go Crazy." It has gone on to have more the 300,000 views. On September 13, 2013 in Washington, D.C KING KANJA opened up for his good friends, international superstars P-square. That same weekend on the 14th of September he doubled up and also performed at the 2013 annual Nollywood & African Film Critics Awards (NAFCA 2013) at the Warner theater in Washington D.C. He undoubtedly had the crowd-pleasing, best performance of the night. 2014 KING KANJA worked heavily on his craft behind the scenes to become a more season artist and was blessed to work with the likes of grammy-nominated super producers such as Drumma Boy and Chucky Thompson amongst many other talented music producers. He was able to develop a new innovative sound that he would use to captivate audiences around the world.
2015 KING KANJA came off to a massive start by being invited to perform at the SXSW (South by South West) festival in Austin, Texas for the first time. His line-up was alongside reggae/dancehall stars Gyptian and Kranium. That summer KING KANJA reached further accolades and performed alongside UK-based international recording artist/producer/DJ/engineer Silvastone at the Legendary Glastonbury festival outside of London in the U.K. that has been going on since September 19, 1970. Led Zeppelin, David Bowie, Kanye West, Jay-z are amongst some of the great musicians who have graced the stage at Glastonbury. Summer of 2015 King Kanja continues his quest to conquer everything and was featured in the Season 3 Coca-cola Coke Studio Cypher that took place in Nairobi, Kenya. Grammy winning singer/songwriter Ne-yo was is in the finale of this season of Coke Studio that King Kanja was featured in. Lots has been projected for KING KANJA in 2016 with his official debut video shot in Miami,Fl for his new single "Cathy" inspired by his meetings with the legendary Cathy Hughes. KING KANJA is also scheduled to appear as a headliner on multiple stages
