Before that all happened, he was street performing outside the 2015 Grammy's and landed himself in a Chevrolet commercial where he said "pretty dope dude," and opened a mail box filled with enough checks to buy a house in some weird city we would never live in. Spin Magazine had him in SXSW's top 40 moments when he rapped about "pickled pizza" with none other than Home Alone's Macaulay Culkin. In 2016, He has already played shows with Travis Scott and Wiz Khalifa on Billboard Winter Fest at Sundance Film Festival and his song "Cellular phone" appeared in the top 50 Superbowl commercials of all time with his Bud light Rescue Dog ad. His music was all up in Refinery 29's The Skinny, and he got the opportunity to perform at a raging house party with the directors of Planned Parenthood and Kickstarter.
We know what you are thinking. WTF? He played a Planned Parenthood house party?
Is someone making a TV show about this guy? Well actually yes, but now isn't the time for...ok..read on.
After his 2013 LP Awkward in a Good Way released via Murs' Label 316 (with a fitting title) and produced entirely by Jesse Shatkin (Sia, Santigold, One Direction), he returns to SXSW in promotion of his upcoming 2016 Spring LP "What I Do All Say And Pickle". The album name and cover is a play on the classic "Velvet Underground and Nico" with Andy Warhol Banana. The album represents progress in his life, creating the aesthetic of inspirational speaker meets freestyle rapper meets Jewish cultural extravaganza. Simply put, It is a party in a pickle jar. The features range from multi platinum song-writer Mickey Shiloh and Mexico's Nina Dioz to long term collaborators Matisyahu and Flex Mathews. It has sex. It has spirituality. It has varsity sports.
Dillz curated his first official OY VEY! SXSW showcase last year, which grew from a spacious unofficial day party in 2012 to a capacity filled Javelina Bar on Rainey St. last year. He brought out acts of al kinds, from Israeli indie rockers of the Tune in TLV Festival and Klezmer // Yiddish rapping Montre-alien SoCalled, to the likes of Three 6 Mafia's Gangsta Boo. If that doesn't make you say OY VEY! , he is the one guy who can say he made Dave Bautista from Guardians of the Galaxy have a bar mitzvah on stage at an NYC Chanukah rap show.
Rza said it best about Kosha Dillz. "One of the rawest jewish kids I know, proving that hip hop comes in all shapes forms and sizes."
