Empowerment Theory: Defining the Future of Digital

Tuesday, March 15
9:30AM - 10:30AM

JW Marriott
Salon FGH
110 E 2nd St

Empowerment theory is a theoretical framework used by community psychologists that examines power and powerlessness. It can completely change the way digital experiences are designed and evaluated. Having been applied to education, politics, public health and social work, it has proven itself as an adaptable framework that can be adopted by anyone tasked with creating and defining digital strategies, products and services. In this talk, researcher Rebecca Gordon will explain how applying empowerment theory to our work can contribute new levels of substance and nuance to experiences. Attendees will learn about a new way of approaching the creation and evaluation of the things we make.
