How Music and Storytelling Can Inspire Social Change

Tuesday, March 15
12:30PM - 1:30PM

JW Marriott
Salon C
110 E 2nd St

The lack of affordable rental homes in America is a complex problem without a silver-bullet solution. But unlike such issues as health care and the environment, rental housing is largely absent from the national agenda. Instead, the struggles of 11 million Americans families who can barely make rent play out behind closed doors. Much like the rent parties of the 1920s, where jazz musicians performed in homes while neighbors passed the hat to help families make rent, this presentation from a film director and a national advocate will explore how storytelling and music can help struggling families -- and illuminate the need for affordable rental housing nationwide.
