Product Reviews: Best Practices for Journalists

Monday, March 14
9:30AM - 10:30AM

Hilton Austin Downtown
Salon F
500 E 4th St

Let's talk about product reviews! When we want to buy a new phone, a PC, a camera, or a pair of headphones, we hit the web and start reading reviews. The professional journalists are pretty good at providing context, and sometimes their reviews are helpful. But sometimes they're totally infuriating. Why should we trust them? How are they testing those things anyway? How do they pick what to review? They're all biased and they play favorites, right? If you've ever wondered what goes into testing a consumer product and writing a review, this session will give you a peek into the process.
